I have an example on the opposite side of the spectrum. I recently had an Uncle who passed away suddenly. The family was devastated. My soon to be ex-husband, was very close with this Uncle. I told him about the passing and I also told him he should feel free to attend both the viewing and church service. I wanted to make sure that our problems did not affect his ability to pay his respects to my Uncle whom he adored. He opted not to attend, and then proceeded to tell my son how horrible Mom was for not letting him pay his respects to my Uncle. The bottom line here, some people are just mean and only care about themselves.

Amy,

Because Daddy had been speaking very mean and ugly things about Mom, so he was denied a chance to be around the rest of the family tree in that instance.

Why wasn't your nephew's Daddy allowed to attend HIS son's award banquet? Why couldn't your sister take the high road and allow BOTH parents to be present instead of the boy's uncle?
