In my situation, my son's grandmother has done almost as much brainwashing to him as his mother. Mother and grandmother are extremely close, even closer than mother and new husband.
One of the things grandma has said after my son's week-long visitation with me is,
Where have you been??? We've been looking all over for you...What kind of message is that sending my son? That's right-- that he was "missing" from his "normal" family (one that doesn't include me, his Dad, of course.
Also, 2 years ago my son expressed frustration of having to spend time with me "because I'll miss grandma's birthday."
Grandma shows up at 90% of exchanges, without bringing along my son's step-father.
The united front of mother and grandmother taking on that 'wicked' father, me, is quite clear.
Has anyone else experienced this mother-grandmother duo that attempts to sabotage the father-child relationship?
